Athletic mourns Justo Izaguirre, member number one, aged 104 | OneFootball

Athletic is mourning Justo Izaguirre, its member number one, who has died aged 104.

According to as.com, the club offered condolences to his family and friends, and the men's and women's first teams will wear black armbands in this weekend's league fixtures.

He became member number one on 11 August 2025, succeeding Juan Antonio Virumbrales, who had held a membership card since 1 September 1939.

As member number one, he later featured in the club's Christmas advert, Bizi Ametsa. He was also a regular presence at club assemblies, always respectful and constructive.

In 2022, when he turned 100, his grandchildren and other relatives surprised him at Lezama with the club's help. President Uriarte, captains Muniain, De Marcos and Williams, and coach Valverde were present.

That year he received a tribute across San Mamés from Herri Harmaila, recognising his involvement in the Grada Popular de Animación.
