Athletic see Hugo Rincón as key for now and the future after his impressive loan at Girona. According to as.com, the club aim to extend his contract beyond June 2028 and raise his current 30 million release clause. Initial talks have begun, with terms and duration still to be agreed.

The Valtierra-born right-back will return for pre-season to compete with Areso and Gorosabel. Ernesto Valverde considered keeping him until the final moments before approving his loan.
