Athletic will honour Ernesto Valverde and Iñigo Lekue at San Mamés on Sunday before facing Celta, the final home game of the season. According to El Correo, the ceremony will take place ahead of kick-off.

Valverde, the coach with the most matches in charge, more than 500, will be recognised alongside Lekue, who has spent 11 seasons exclusively with the club and is now retiring.

The club have invited all former players and backroom staff who featured under Valverde across his three spells, from 2003 to 2005, 2013 to 2017 and 2022 to 2026.

Supporters are asked to arrive early at La Catedral, around 18:45, 15 minutes before the start.

The tribute will precede a match in which Athletic will try to keep alive their chances of finishing eighth, the position that leads to the Conference League.

Athletic are already mathematically safe after Real Sociedad's draw at Girona and sit ninth on 44 points, one behind the Gipuzkoans. Real Sociedad currently occupy eighth and are assured of Europa League football as Copa winners.
