Athletico Paranaense beat Chapecoense 2-0 at Estádio Mário Celso Petraglia to rise from sixth to fifth in the Brasileirão.
Stiven Mendoza broke the deadlock in the 57th minute, drilling a left-footed finish into the top left from the centre of the box.
Kevin Viveros sealed it after João Cruz's through ball (81.).
Half-time substitute Bruninho injected thrust and twice drew saves from Rafael Santos as Athletico-PR pressed after the restart.
Santos in the home goal tipped over Neto Pessoa's rising effort as Chape briefly threatened.
Athletico-PR produced six shots on target from 14 attempts and controlled 57.7% possession. Chape mustered one shot on target from eight attempts and did not win a corner.
Next, Athletico-PR visit Palmeiras in the league. Chape drop from 17th to 18th and host Botafogo next.
