🇪🇸 Atlético de Madrid thrash Getafe to reach Copa del Rey semi-final | OneFootball

Two early goals from Giuliano Simeone ensured that Atlético de Madrid thrashed Getafe 5-0 to book their place in semi-final of the Copa del Rey, where they could face Real Madrid.

It took the hosts just seven minutes to open the scoring, as Javi Galan's cross was met by Simeone, who sent it back across goal with a firm header that left Jiri Letacek stranded.

Moments later, they and he had doubled their advantage after Rodrigo de Paul slipped the ball behind the Getafe defence, allowing the onrushing Simeone to smash past the goalkeeper.

Three minutes before half time, the Rojiblancos put the game beyond doubt when Samuel Lino, cutting inside the Getafe full back before finding the bottom corner of the net.

The second half was a more even affair as both sides rang the changes, with Getafe managing their first shot on target of the game just before the hour mark when Carles Pérez tested Juan Musso.

However, it was Atleti who continued to prove a bigger threat and they added a fourth 12 minutes from time when the Getafe backline backed off substitute Ángel Correa, who promptly fired into the bottom corner from 20 yards out.

There was still time for him to turn provider for fellow substitute Alexander Sørloth to add a fifth goal.
