La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have on Wednesday been dealt an altogether considerable blow on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that Ángel Correa has been hit with a lengthy domestic suspension.
Frontman Correa was for his part given his marching orders during Atlético’s most recent outing.
En route to a damaging 2-1 defeat at the hands of Getafe, the Argentine was shown a straight red card for a dangerous challenge on Djené.
It was his reaction to as much, though, which has since landed Correa in hot water with the Spanish football authorities.
As confirmed in the referee’s post-match report, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, the 30-year-old aimed the following series of digs at Cuadra Fernández:
“Son of a bitch, coward. A motherf**ker.”
In the case of as much being considered an ‘insult’ rather than a ‘slight’ on the part of the RFEF, Correa was aware that he was facing up to a minimum of a four-game suspension.
And as alluded to above, on Wednesday, the extent of his punishment has been confirmed.
As per MD:
‘The disciplinary body has given him the minimum penalty. In addition to these four matches, a fifth match was added for the red card for the tackle on Djené.’
As much means that Correa is set to miss the following fixtures, across both La Liga and the Copa del Rey: Barcelona (twice), Espanyol, Sevilla, and Real Valladolid.
