Atlético Madrid will be the most represented club in Sunday’s World Cup final, with nine players involved when Argentina face Spain at 21:00. According to L'Équipe, they comprise three Spaniards and six Argentines.

The holders could almost field a Colchoneros-style attack, with Giuliano Simeone on the right wing, Thiago Almada as No 10, Nico Gonzalez on the right, and Julian Alvarez leading the line. Simeone is Diego Simeone’s son and Alvarez is set to leave.

Of the 52 players who will take to the turf before kick-off, 25 are contracted to Liga clubs. Barcelona are next most represented with eight players, all from Spain.

Athletic Bilbao and Arsenal each provide three players, all for Spain. From France, Marseille lead the way through Argentines Geronimo Rulli and Facundo Medina. Paris Saint-Germain can count on Fabian Ruiz, who has rarely lost when starting for La Roja.

Lyon and Strasbourg have one representative apiece, Nicolas Tagliafico and Valentin Barco. The pair will try to help the Albiceleste reach the summit again for a second successive time.
