Joao Gomes is closing in on a move to Atletico Madrid, with Sky Sports reporting a £39m agreement and a five-year deal. The midfielder is widely expected to leave Wolves this summer, one of several exits after relegation.

Wolves are interested in out-of-contract Sunderland promotion winner Dan Neil, who has rival admirers including Coventry City. talkSPORT says Valencia boss Carlos Corberan is considering a move for the midfielder.

Goalkeeper Nikolas Polster of Wolfsberger, linked with Wolves as Jose Sa is set to depart, is also on Celtic’s radar. He is believed to favour the SPL champions.

West Bromwich Albion remain linked with Sunderland keeper Anthony Patterson after exploring a deal in January before his Millwall loan and the arrival of Max O’Leary. O’Leary has been offered new terms and Coventry are emerging as front runners for Patterson.

Albion are expected to target loans, with Brighton’s £10m winger Tommy Watson thought to be available for a temporary switch. He impressed in Sunderland’s play-off final last year before joining the Seagulls and could move again this summer.

Aston Villa are reportedly keen on Gabriel Sara, who left Norwich for Galatasaray in 2024 and has been valued at around 40 million Euros after missing Brazil’s World Cup squad. Villa and Crystal Palace are also tracking Marseille’s Quinten Timber, the 24-year-old open to a Premier League move after joining from Feyenoord in January and starting regularly since.
