Atlético-MG have agreed terms to bring Léo Duarte back to Brazil after his İstanbul Başakşehir contract expired. The former Flamengo defender is being lined up for the second half of the year.

Atlético-MG said in a statement that all terms are settled to sign the 29-year-old on a three and a half year contract after his Başakşehir deal ended on 31 May 2026. The final signature and announcement are conditional on medical tests scheduled for mid-June.

Duarte spent the last six seasons at İstanbul Başakşehir. Between Flamengo and Türkiye he had a little over a year with Milan, joining the Italians in late July 2019 for 11 million euros, around R$ 46 million at the time.

He featured in Flamengo’s 2019 Brasileirão and Libertadores-winning campaigns, playing up to the first leg of the last 16 against Emelec before departing, with Marí replacing him in the squad.

His honours with Flamengo also include two Campeonato Carioca titles in 2017 and 2019. He first stood out in 2016 by winning the Copinha alongside Lucas Paquetá, Vizeu and Matheus Sávio.
