Atlético-MG ‘to offer’ three-year deal as Corinthians face Maycon battle | OneFootball

ESPN reports that Atlético-MG have submitted an offer to Shakhtar Donetsk for Maycon and want to sign the midfielder, leaving Corinthians facing competition for a permanent deal.

Before year-end, Corinthians advanced a move to keep Maycon in talks involving Fabinho Soldado. Talks stalled when the club cut a proposed contract from three years to two, running to 2027.

That change displeased Shakhtar, who had agreed to a free release while retaining 50 percent of his rights to profit from a future sale. A shorter deal would hinder that.

Atlético-MG then entered the race, accepting Shakhtar’s terms and offering a three-year deal. Corinthians are understood to be aware of the proposal.

Maycon’s fourth loan at Corinthians ended on 31 December 2025, after consecutive stints since 2022. He owes Shakhtar one million euros, about R$ six and a half million, from unpaid agreements in those deals.

Captain in 2025, he won the Paulista and Copa do Brasil, making 43 appearances with three goals and one assist. Across two spells he has played 247 times for Corinthians, also winning the Paulistas of 2017 and 2018 and the Brasileiro of 2017.
