Atlético Madrid star returns to training ahead of Real Sociedad clash | OneFootball

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid marked his return to training alongside the rest of the club’s squad on Friday.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Rodrigo Riquelme as the player in question.

Midfielder Riquelme had for his part been forced to sit out training in Spain’s capital across the week to date.

This came owing to a muscular concern, which had thrown the youngster’s status to face Real Sociedad this weekend firmly up in the air.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from Atlético’s training ground is anything to go by, then the Rojiblancos faithful need not fret.

As per MD:

‘Atlético Madrid’s Rodrigo Riquelme returned to training on Friday, May 9, after recovering from a muscle strain. Barring any unforeseen events, he will be called up for the match against Real Sociedad this Saturday at the Metropolitano.’

Still a doubt to play his part tomorrow, on the other hand, is César Azpilicueta, amid an ongoing bout of illness on the part of the veteran defender.
