Despite returning to first-team training, Axel Disasi (27) is still planning to leave Chelsea during the winter transfer window, according to a report from The Athletic. The France international defender was placed in the ‘bomb squad’ away from the first-team after failing to secure a move away from Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window.
The former Monaco central defender returned to training with the Blues’ senior squad in mid-November. In a bid to build up fitness, the 27-year-old also featured for Chelsea’s U21s in a match against Reading in the EFL Trophy. Spending the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, the Frenchman has not made a senior appearance for the West London outfit since a 3-1 win against Wolves in January.
The centre-back failed to secure a move last summer, but he wasn’t short of suitors. Several clubs expressed an interest in Disasi’s services, including Monaco, West Ham, and Saudi club Neom. It remains to be seen whether any of these clubs will re-attempt to sign the defender during the winter window.
