Daniel Peretz is gaining important match practice at Southampton FC, but his future at FC Bayern remains open, not least because the goalkeeper himself has not set a clear direction.
The 25-year-old is still under contract in Munich until 2028, but Southampton have a purchase option worth eight million euros. The Israeli international goalkeeper is currently fighting for promotion to the Premier League with the English club and has played his way to the fore in recent weeks.
When asked in an interview with BILD whether a return to Munich was his goal, Peretz answered evasively: „I don’t know yet. At the moment, I’m enjoying playing every game. Then we’ll see what the future brings. I have every confidence that God will lead me to the place that suits me best.“

Despite his loan, contact with FC Bayern has not been broken off. Manuel Neuer in particular regularly gets in touch with his former goalkeeper colleague. „Especially with Manuel Neuer. He’s a great guy, very humble. From the first second I was at Bayern, he helped me,“ said Peretz. The 25-year-old also raved about the Bayern captain: „And he’s not just any goalkeeper, he’s the best of all time.“
Peretz doesn’t see his time in Munich as a lost phase in sporting terms either. Although he was only rarely called upon at the record champions, the experience shaped him. „The time on the bench hardened me and made me a stronger person and a better goalkeeper. I learned a lot in Munich,“ explained the keeper.
At Southampton, Peretz is now benefiting above all from regular appearances. The goalkeeper emphasized that the rhythm and confidence at the club are doing him good. If he were to return to Munich, however, the competitive situation would remain challenging, especially as Manuel Neuer, Jonas Urbig and Sven Ulreich are part of the Bayern squad.
Nevertheless, Peretz does not want to completely rule out a comeback at FC Bayern. „If it ends up being Bayern, I would be incredibly happy. If not, then no. But no matter what happens – it will be for my own good,“ said the Israeli. His decision is therefore still up in the air.
