Estádio da Luz is in a race against time before the new season as concerts trigger major operational changes at Benfica. According to Glorioso 1904, the schedule has forced the club to prioritise the pitch and logistics.
Bad Bunny performs on Tuesday and Wednesday, prompting a temporary overhaul of day-to-day operations. Dozens of staff have switched to remote work because access to the stadium is restricted.
Iron Maiden are booked for seven July, a further strain that will leave the current surface in a delicate state for the start of 2026/27. Karol G is also set to play at the ground next year.
Benfica have drawn up an accelerated plan to replace the entire pitch. Work should begin soon after the Iron Maiden stage is dismantled, with the club to regain full control of the stadium on nine July.
The main concern is whether the new turf consolidates in time for the second leg of the Europa League second qualifying round on 30 July. The calendar has tightened after Torreense’s historic Taça de Portugal win.
