Bap announces busts for Arrascaeta and Bruno Henrique at Flamengo | OneFootball

Flamengo president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap, has announced the club will commission busts of Arrascaeta and Bruno Henrique. He revealed the tributes before the Brasileirão meeting with São Paulo at the Maracanã.

According to Globo.com, a bust for Bruno Henrique had already been planned for the Gávea headquarters in Rio’s South Zone, and the honour has now been extended to Arrascaeta.

Bap said he wants to recognise club greats in life rather than posthumously, and that both players will be honoured while still active at Flamengo. He added the pieces will be funded by contributions and created using 3D scanning, with top contributors named on the bases, 27 for Bruno Henrique and 10 for Arrascaeta. He also said a world title remains a target.

Arrascaeta and Bruno Henrique arrived in 2019 and, with 18 trophies each, are the most decorated players in Flamengo’s history. Their busts will join those of Zico, Júnior, Leandro, Andrade, Adílio and basketball idol Olivinha at Gávea.

Bruno Henrique thanked Bap for the gesture and hailed his team-mate, calling Arrascaeta the squad’s standout and sharing his happiness. Arrascaeta said it is a great honour to be part of the club’s history and that he hopes to be remembered for giving everything to the team. He marked the moment with his son, Milano, while Bruno Henrique reached 200 Flamengo appearances on the day.
