Baptiste Santamaria marked his PAOK debut with a strike from outside the box to secure victory over Dynamo Kyiv in the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round.

According to Superdeporte, the former Valencia player had been out of favour at Mestalla, barely featuring in the second half of last season and effectively placed on the club’s exit list.

The matter was settled within weeks, the Frenchman agreeing to terminate his contract with Valencia, receiving a portion of the year he had left to be paid, then moving to Greece.

Now he is aiming to settle in Thessaloniki and prove his worth, and his debut goal has put PAOK in front in the tie.

It was an immediate impact on arrival, and PAOK will play European competition if they come through the qualifying round.
