Pedro Fernandez ‘Dro’, one of the standout performers of Barcelona’s pre-season, has been absent from both the first team and the reserve side in recent matches.
The 17-year-old wonderkid suffered a knock in Barça Atletic’s game against Porreres on 7 September and has not been a part of any matchday squads since.
He had received several knocks during the game, the most serious being a stamp on his foot, which continues to cause discomfort.
Now, according to SPORT, Dro has not been able to shake off the pain in his foot since that game, which has prevented him from working normally.
It prevented him from being included in the Barcelona first-team squad for matches against Valencia and Newcastle, and he was also unavailable for Barça Atletic’s trip to Andratx in the Segunda RFEF.

With discomfort persisting, it seems unlikely he will be able to play against Getafe with the first team or Castellon B with the reserves.
Dro’s availability will depend entirely on whether his condition improves enough to allow him to return.
Dro’s injury comes at a time when he could have benefited from opportunities opened up by the absences of players like Gavi and Lamine Yamal, given that he is versatile enough to play in several positions in the final third.
Coach Hansi Flick continues to follow Dro’s progress closely and is expected to count on him again once he has recovered.
After all, Flick had already included him in the matchday squad for the opening three La Liga fixtures, against Mallorca, Levante, and Rayo Vallecano, although he did not play in any of those matches.
