Transfer activity is intensifying at FC Barcelona as we reach the last stages of this summer transfer window. In the last few days, the Blaugranes have completed several notable operations, including the departures of Ferran Torres and Tommy Marques, and although neither of them has been officially announced, they have reportedly also signed Joao Cancelo and Rodri Hernandez.
Thus, one of the most important tasks left for the Catalan club to achieve in the remaining days of the market would be to incorporate a center-forward, and the club continues to make efforts to land Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid. Despite having enjoyed no success in this operation so far, Barcelona still see the Argentine as their top target.
However, they are also keeping their eyes on some alternatives in case they are unable to land Alvarez. In this regard, the Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez and the Sporting Lisbon forward Luis Suarez have been linked with the Blaugrana club in recent days.
Now, SPORT cites El Chiringuito’s Jose Alvarez to claim that the Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres is another player on the Catalan side’s list, and the La Liga club will make some moves in the coming hours to test his situation.
Although the Swede was able to score 21 goals in his first season in the Premier League, his impact was still not the same as was expected after his incredible 2024-25 season with Sporting Lisbon. He has not always been an automatic starter for Mikel Arteta, and the Gunners’ doubts about the forward are clear from the way they have been looking to land Julian Alvarez themselves, even though the Argentine has ruled out a move back to England.
There are more moves expected in the Julian Alvarez operation in the coming days, but with his future still highly uncertain, it remains to be seen whether Barcelona will turn their attentions to Viktor Gyokeres.
