The board at La Liga giants Barcelona have long kicked into gear efforts to bring in a new centre-forward for next season.
The Blaugrana, however, are aware that striking a deal for first-choice target Julián Alvarez will prove a tough task.
Owing to as much, Deco and co. are also working on a ‘Plan B’.
That’s according to Fichajes, who point towards Levante youngster Karl Etta Eyong as the other player in the sights of the reigning Spanish champions.
Frontman Etta Eyong is in the midst of a stellar campaign to date, proving himself La Liga’s breakout star courtesy of his exploits across stints with Villarreal and Levante.
And such efforts in the final third have not gone at all unnoticed behind the scenes in Barcelona.
As per a report from Fichajes:
‘FC Barcelona has begun working on a plan B that is very much liked by the technical staff. This involves Etta Eyong.’
22-year-old Etta Eyong’s contract at the Estadi Ciutat de València contains a release clause for Spanish teams set at €30 million.
Barca, though, are understood to be confident in their chances of striking a deal for less.
