FC Barcelona continue to place strong emphasis on identifying young talents capable of shaping the club’s future. Whether through La Masia or smart recruitment abroad, the Catalans remain consistent in their pursuit of emerging quality, and their latest focus appears to be on one of Ajax’s brightest prospects.
Mika Godts has enjoyed a breakthrough season in the Netherlands and has quickly established himself as Ajax’s most influential player. Despite the club enduring a difficult campaign and falling out of the Eredivisie title race, the 20-year-old winger has been a rare bright spot, drawing widespread attention across Europe for his performances.
According to Voetbal International (via SPORT), Barcelona have been closely tracking Godts’ development and have even scouted him in person on several occasions. The Belgian winger has impressed with his direct style of play, pace, and confidence in one-on-one situations.
Operating primarily from the left flank and cutting inside onto his stronger foot, Godts has added a decisive edge to his game this season, contributing 10 goals and nine assists and addressing previous concerns over his finishing.
However, Barcelona are not alone in their interest. Arsenal have also followed him extensively, while Napoli have already made contact with Ajax in recent weeks. Roma and Stuttgart are understood to have held talks with the player’s representatives, underlining the growing competition for his signature.
Godts is currently valued at around €15 million by Transfermarkt, but Ajax have no intention of selling unless a clearly above-market offer is made. The Dutch club considers him a central figure in their rebuilding plans and is convinced he still has significant potential to develop further.
Even so, Barcelona’s long-standing and close institutional relationship with Ajax could prove influential in any future talks, a link that has been reinforced by the recent appointment of Jordi Cruyff as the club’s sporting director.
For now, Barcelona’s immediate transfer priority remains securing Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal next summer, with a €30 million purchase option on the table subject to salary adjustments.
As a result, any move for Godts is likely to depend on financial flexibility, but the Catalan giants are clearly positioning themselves should the opportunity arise.
