In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Crystal Palace full-back Daniel Munoz. It has been claimed that the Catalan club are showing interest in recruiting the Colombian defender next year.

Munoz’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Munoz has made a great start to this campaign as he has been responsible for putting in a run of influential displays on the right side of Oliver Glasner’s defence. The Colombian right-back has featured in 12 matches for the Eagles this season, scoring two goals and securing one assist across all competitions.

The 29-year-old has been a solid presence when defending inside his half and deserves credit for making 19 tackles, six blocks, ten interceptions and 30 clearances in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball relatively well from the right flank after completing 75.5% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Selhurst Park will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for Barcelona to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.

Will Munoz Be A Good Fit For Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick?

Munoz is a tough-tackling full-back, who can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his side inside his half. He usually clears his lines when required and is a good dribbler with the ball.

The Colombian sensation can also contribute by scoring or creating the odd goal for his team. He is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a central defender if told to do so.

Munoz would no doubt bring more quality and depth to Barcelona boss Hansi Flick’s defence. He has what it takes to nail down a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp in the coming years.

At 29, Munoz is playing in his prime, which makes him a decent fit for the Catalan club’s needs in the short term. However, there are some concerns over whether he would be able to make a smooth transition to life in La Liga. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting him, so Barca should focus on getting a deal over the line for him next year.
