In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo revealed that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Strasbourg forward Joaquin Panichelli. It has been stated that the Catalan club are showing interest in acquiring the services of the Argentine talent next year.

Panichelli’s Impressive Form In French Football

Panichelli has enjoyed an excellent run of form at the French club after he put in a run of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 23-year-old has banged in ten goals in 13 matches for Strasbourg this season across all competitions.

The Argentine attacker has led the line well for the French outfit as he is averaging 3.13 shots per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has kept 51.9% of his attempts on target. However. Panichelli has to find a way to improve his ball distribution after completing 73.4% of his attempted passes in the French top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the French club will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it difficult for Barcelona to sign him on the cheap next year.

What Will Panichelli Bring To Barcelona?

Panichelli is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer a few decent chances for his teammates in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.

Standing at 1.90m, the Argentine sensation can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. However, there are some concerns over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if Barcelona manage to get him on board next year.

We can expect Panichelli to bring more quality to Barca boss Hansi Flick’s midfield. He has what it takes to nail down a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp in the coming years.

At 23, Panichelli has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Catalan giants to pursue this January or at the end of this campaign. However, Flick has to give him some time to adjust to life in Spain before he can get the best out of the talented striker.
