In a recent report, The Mirror revealed that Barcelona are facing stiff competition for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. It is understood that the Catalan club would have to rival Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Juventus in the race to land the English centre-back next year.
Guehi has enjoyed a good run of form for the Eagles this season after he helped them lift the Community Shield last month. The English defensive ace has made six appearances for Crystal Palace so far in this campaign, scoring one goal across all competitions.
The 25-year-old has been a solid presence when defending inside his half as he has made five tackles, two interceptions and 13 clearances in the Premier League. He has also taken care of the ball when distributing possession from the back after completing 83.9% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at Selhurst Park will run out next summer, which could potentially give Barcelona a chance to come to a pre-contract agreement with the player this January.

Guehi is a tough-tackling defender who can sense the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the front foot.
The English sensation is a great leader on the field as well. However, there are some question marks over whether he would be able to make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if Barcelona manage to snap him up next year.
Guehi would bring more bite and steel to Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick’s defence. He is good enough to challenge for regular first-team football at the Nou Camp in the coming years.
At 25, Guehi has his peak years ahead of him. He would be well worth the fight, so the Catalan club should focus on stepping up their efforts to land the English defender next year. However, Flick has to give him some time to adjust to life in Spain before he can get the best out of him at Barcelona.
