The future of Bernardo Silva remains up in the air this summer, with the Manchester City star set to go into the World Cup without a decision made on his future. It does look as if he may be heading to La Liga, but it is not yet clear where.

Atletico Madrid were the first side to make a move for Silva, opening talks with Silva early last month as it became clear he would be leaving City as a free agent. Then Barcelona opened talks with Silva, with the Portugal international known to have a desire to play for the Catalans, and their interest in him dating back some time. Yet Hansi Flick has made it clear he wants exits before Silva can be signed.

Real Madrid have also been linked with Silva, with Jose Mourinho now set to take charge. It does appear he will now push his decision until after the World Cup.

Barcelona at risk of missing out on Bernardo Silva

It had looked as if Barcelona were favourites for his signature, yet Catalunya Radio have claimed that they are now at risk of missing out on his signature. They had appeared to agree on terms with Silva, but now they say that Atletico Madrid are now in pole position to sign him.

It is noted that Flick’s uncertainty on his signing has cooled talks between Barcelona and agent Jorge Mendes. In addition, Silva recently stated that he ‘wants to go to a team that really truly wants him’, something that it would appear is not quite the case at Barcelona.

Which Barcelona players need to leave to sign Silva?

It has been claimed that Roony Bardghji and Marc Casado leaving could be the key to Barcelona signing him. In theory, Silva can play in both central midfield and on the right wing, but it not clear if their departures will be sufficient financially to cover the signing of Silva.
