Barcelona await PSG offer for 26-year-old forward as doubts over future grow | OneFootball

According to SPORT, FC Barcelona are preparing for what could be a decisive week in Ferran Torres’ future, with growing expectations inside the club that Paris Saint-Germain will submit an official offer for the Spanish forward.

Although Ferran has not directly informed the club of any desire to leave, conversations with people close to the player have led Barça to believe that a move from PSG could arrive in the coming days, possibly even before the winger returns for pre-season on August 12.

Barcelona won’t sell cheap

The La Liga champions have no intention of forcing Ferran out, but they are equally clear that he will only be sold if a significant offer arrives.

So far, no formal negotiations have begun between the two clubs, but Barcelona are prepared for that to change quickly.

If PSG want to sign the 26-year-old, they will need to meet the club’s financial expectations.

Public comments raise questions

Barcelona were surprised by Ferran’s recent public remarks, particularly his statement that the club must “show they want me.”

Within the club, those comments have been interpreted as a sign that the player may already be leaning towards a departure.

Barcelona had already informed Ferran that discussions over a new contract would not begin until September because of salary cap restrictions, following the same approach taken with other players such as Eric Garcia.

The expectation was that both sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick would sit down with the player after his return from holiday to discuss his future.

However, there is now a feeling that PSG want to accelerate the process before those conversations take place.

Barcelona ready to hold their ground

Despite Ferran entering the final year of his contract, Barcelona are not willing to lower their demands.

The Catalans believe the striker market is extremely limited, while Ferran’s value has risen following his performances at the World Cup.

If PSG fail to meet their asking price, the Blaugrana are prepared to keep the player for the entire season, even if that creates the risk of losing him on a free transfer in 2027.

Barcelona believe Ferran’s representatives have been in discussions with PSG for some time and that personal terms may not be an obstacle if the French champions decide to move forward.

Should the player ultimately decide against leaving, the Catalans remain willing to offer him a contract extension later this year, although the proposal would include no major salary increase.

While the club value Ferran’s contribution, neither the sporting department nor Hansi Flick currently view him as an untouchable player within the project.

A new striker remains a priority

If Ferran eventually departs, Barcelona are expected to reinvest in a new centre-forward.

Julian Alvarez remains the club’s primary target, and Barcelona intend to pursue him until the end of the transfer window.

Should that move prove impossible, the club have already identified two alternative striker profiles capable of strengthening the attack.
