The 2025/26 season is finally over, with Barcelona once again dominating the domestic scene by reclaiming the La Liga title as well as the Spanish Super Cup.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, ended a season without any major trophy for the second consecutive time.
In order to drive them out of this mess, Real Madrid are expected to appoint Jose Mourinho as the new manager, although the appointment is getting delayed and slightly complicated due to the upcoming elections.

It is, in fact, an open secret that Mourinho will be joining Real Madrid next season, taking the reins from Alvaro Arbeloa, who bid farewell to the club in rather unceremonious fashion.
Keeping that in mind, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick was notably asked about the likely Mourinho appointment after the game against Valencia.
The German, though, had a firm response, as he assured that Barça will be ready regardless of who Madrid appoint as manager next season.
“Of course, I’m prepared to face Mourinho. Why not? He’s a coach like any other, and I’m always ready for anyone,” he said (h/t Goal).

Meanwhile, Real Madrid fans may have to wait before they can see Mourinho officially become the next head coach.
Recent reports suggest the upcoming presidential elections are delaying the appointment process of the Portuguese tactician.
Moreover, Real Madrid have missed the deadline to pay Mourinho’s release clause at Benfica, meaning the Portuguese giants are expected to ask for more money.
