Only one Barcelona player managed to score against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday afternoon and it was none of Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, or Robert Lewandowski.
Instead, it was team captain Ronald Araujo who took the scoring responsibility for the crucial game, converting from a corner and ensuring that the team took all three points.
Further, he also put in a stellar defensive shift against the Vallecas-based side with eight recoveries, three duels won, and three defensive contributions.
Barcelona’s goalscorer on the afternoon spoke to the media after the game and explained how the game was extremely gruelling for the team.
“We suffered, but we knew they were tough. They are intense, they have quality, a good coach.”
“We suffered, but earning the 3 points was the most important part,” he added.

The captain then spoke on the importance of the team’s winning streak heading into the international break.
“It’s good that we’re in a winning streak now. We’re happy and we have to continue working. We needed to change the chip after the match vs Atleti.”
Araujo also spoke on his improvement in form and confidence and how he enjoys scoring goals for the club despite being a defender.
“I feel good. I feel like I can bring a lot to the team in attack.”
“I was waiting to score, it has been close. It feels amazing to score goals again in this stadium,” he added.
Speaking on the man of the match Joan Garcia, the Uruguayan international said,
“Joan García is spectacular. At this point, he doesn’t surprise us anymore.”
“What you see in these matches, we already saw it in training,” he added.
Towards the end of his interview, Araujo spoke on the team’s improvement in set-pieces in recent times and how they have developed a knack for converting.
“We have improved so much from set pieces. We are a weapon in attack now.”
“We’ve scored quite a few corner kicks and today we won the game with one as well,” he added.
Finally, he was asked what he made of the team’s physical condition after playing so many games, to which he said,
“The data says that we’re doing an outstanding job. We are running a lot and we’re in peak conditions every 3 days.”
“Some players are a little tired, it has been tough. We’re making massive efforts,” he added.
