As reported earlier this week, FC Barcelona have set their sights on a potential move for Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi.

The former Chelsea star has a contract that expires at the end of the season, and he will not renew it.

As such, he will be available for free, alerting Barça to a potential market opportunity for the summer of 2026.

A ‘crazy battle’ incoming for Marc Guehi

However, signing Marc Guehi in the summer will not be an easy task, as Fabrizio Romano reports that there will be a ‘crazy battle’ for his services.

Indeed, the transfer expert states that at least 5-6 top clubs across Europe will be vying to sign the England international.

As already mentioned, Barcelona are interested in the centre-back, but arch-rivals Real Madrid are also said to be keeping an eye on the 25-year-old.

Liverpool, who came very close to signing Guehi last summer, will once again be involved in the race. However, some other top clubs in England are also said to be monitoring the player.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are also very much in the picture for Guehi’s acquisition, while Romano adds that top clubs from Italy and Spain are also looking at him as a target.

The signing will come down not only to the sporting project being offered but also financial package, in terms of salary and signing bonus.

So, Barcelona will have their task cut out if they do intend to proceed with their interest in Guehi and vie for his signing on a free transfer in 2026.

The potential departure of Andreas Christensen, whose contract expires next year as well, could create space for the Englishman in the squad.
