Barcelona chief provides Marcus Rashford future update | OneFootball

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has spoken out on the club’s plans for Marcus Rashford beyond the summer.

Frontman Rashford is for his part of course in the midst of a productive loan stint in Catalunya’s capital.

The Englishman was brought in from Manchester United last summer, to add some much-needed depth to Hansi Flick’s attacking ranks.

And Rashford has since gone on to provide exactly that.

Covering for a string of injury problems in Barca’s frontline, the 28-year-old has racked up 23 direct goal contributions across 38 appearances to date.

Such fine production has long given rise to claims that the Camp Nou brass will do their utmost to make Rashford’s signing a permanent one.

And if the latest comments on the part of reelected Blaugrana president Joan Laporta are anything to go by, then such suggestions appear to be on the money.

Drawn on Rashford’s future beyond the conclusion of his loan during an interview with RAC1 (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) this week, Laporta assured:

“We will try — in Barca’s interest — to ensure that Marcus Rashford can continue with us beyond this season. Marcus is performing very well with assists and goals, we’re happy.”
