Barcelona close in on agreement with Manchester City for Rodri | OneFootball

With less than two weeks left till the start of the 2026-27 season for FC Barcelona, the Catalan club still has to complete some important operations in the market to ensure they go into this next season with maximum strength.

One of the most important of these operations is that of the signing of the Manchester City midfielder Rodri Hernandez. Significant progress on this front has already been made in the last few days, and according to Mundo Deportivo, the operation is very close to being completed.

An agreement between the player and the Blaugrana club had already been reached a few days ago, and now, the two clubs are also close to reaching an agreement. Talks are already in their final stage, with some details left to be ironed out.

Barcelona are expected to pay around €55 million fixed plus some add-ons for the midfielder, but this amount can be reduced by the addition of one of their players in the deal with City. Nonetheless, the significant gap that existed between the positions of the two clubs at the start of negotiations has already been bridged.

Hansi Flick, who is keen to have his entire squad for the upcoming season available to him as soon as possible, can have the player at his disposal before the end of this week, even though Manchester City have asked him to return to training on Friday.

Thus, Flick could have the midfielder available to train at the same time as other members of the Spain squad for the World Cup report back for training. However, time is of the essence with only a few days left till the start of the new season, and hopefully, Deco will be able to land Rodri Hernandez as soon as possible, to ensure the coach gets enough time to get him gelled with new teammates.
