Erik Dominguez – a promising prospect

Dominguez arrives at Barcelona from Cornell, where he enjoyed an excellent campaign with the club’s Cadete A team in the Under-16 Division de Honor.

Operating mainly as an inverted left winger despite being naturally right-footed, he made a significant impact with his goal-scoring ability, finding the net 13 times in one of Spain’s most competitive youth leagues.

His eye for goal is nothing new. The previous season, while playing for Cornella’s Cadete B side, he scored 17 goals, further highlighting his consistent development and attacking quality.

Before joining Cornella, the youngster spent two years at CF Damm. During his first season there with the Alevin B team, he scored an impressive 29 goals. He later added five goals for the club’s Infantil B side while continuing to impress with his performances.

Beyond his ability in front of goal, Dominguez is regarded as a highly exciting attacking player. He stands out for his dribbling ability, creativity and willingness to take on defenders in one-on-one situations.

Impressive trial at Barcelona

Dominguez’s potential was recently on display at the MIC Football tournament, where he featured for Barcelona during a trial period.

He left a strong impression on coaches and observers, emerging as one of the standout performers in a team that also included promising youngsters such as Artem Rybak and Hugo Garces.

Those performances helped convince Barcelona to make their move, and the club now see Dominguez as another exciting addition to an academy renowned for producing elite talent.

Following the signing, Dominguez will officially join the club and is expected to play for the Juvenil B side next season.

However, even though the youngster has already announced his exit from Cornella, Barcelona are not expected to formally announce the transfer until 4 September, when the player turns 16 and becomes eligible to sign his first professional contract.
