FC Barcelona are gearing up for a blockbuster UEFA Champions League showdown against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night. Both sides come into the clash as two of the most in-form teams in Europe, and victory would send a strong statement of intent about their UCL credentials.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Hansi Flick is expected to make several changes to the side that defeated Real Sociedad at the weekend. The German coach has been carefully rotating his squad during this packed start to the season, ensuring that all players remain involved while avoiding fatigue.
Against Sociedad, Hansi Flick had fielded a center-back pairing of Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen, and thus, for the PSG game, the German coach can return to the center-back pairing of Pau Cubarsi and Eric Garcia, while Jules Kounde and Gerard Martin manning the flanks.
The midfield is set for a key adjustment with Dani Olmo expected to start in the attacking role after featuring only in the second half against Sociedad. He will line up alongside Pedri and Frenkie de Jong, providing Barcelona with both creativity and control in the middle of the park.
In attack, Marcus Rashford is tipped to start on the left wing, while Lamine Yamal should return to the XI on the right after making his comeback at the weekend. The main uncertainty is in the center-forward role, with Robert Lewandowski, who found the net against Sociedad, competing with Ferran Torres, who has also been in excellent form from the bench.
With Flick managing his squad intelligently, Barcelona head into the clash against PSG with fresh legs and plenty of firepower, setting the stage for one of the standout fixtures of the Champions League group stage.
