FC Barcelona enjoyed a special season under Hansi Flick, winning the domestic treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.

Over the course of the season, the Blaugrana had a number of players who stepped up in a big way to help the team to the top.

While the likes of Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, and Pau Cubarsi have gotten the limelight, and deservedly so, one cannot overlook the contributions of players like Inigo Martinez.

The veteran defender, in his second season at Barcelona, enjoyed a brilliant campaign, especially after having endured injury issues in his debut term under Xavi Hernandez.

Inigo mocks Dutch legend

Without a doubt, Inigo Martinez has been one of the best defenders in La Liga this season, adapting exceptionally to Hansi Flick’s high line and offside trap tactics.

However, former Real Madrid playmaker and Dutch icon Wesley Sneijder does not see things the same way.

When asked to pick the better defender between Inigo and Real Madrid’s Antonio Rudiger, the former Netherlands international chose the German international over Barcelona’s domestic treble winner.

Not shy of giving it back, Inigo commented on the post showing Sneijder’s response, replying: “JA JA,” laughing at it.

Inigo finished the 2024/25 season with 46 appearances for Barcelona not only making valuable contributions in defence with his adaptability and leadership but also chipping in with three goals and six assists.
