Barcelona director reveals which position the club wants to reinforce in the summer | OneFootball

With the January transfer window now closed without any new signings, FC Barcelona have begun preparations for the upcoming season.

The Catalans are pleased by the current squad’s performance under manager Hansi Flick. But reinforcements will be brought in before next season and Barça are clear about the position they prioritise reinforcing, provided they have sufficient financial flexibility.

Deco reveals which position Barcelona want to reinforce

Indeed, during an interview with SPORT, Barcelona director Deco confirmed that a new left-winger continues to be on the agenda of the club.

“We have players who can play in various positions: Olmo, Raphinha, Fermín… but it is true that we may be lacking a left-wing player,” said Deco.

“It is not an absolute priority, though, because Raphinha is performing perfectly, and Fermin can play there even though it is not his natural position. If you look at the squad, perhaps we could use one more player in that position,” he explained.

Barcelona attempted to secure the loan of Marcus Rashford in January to boost their left-wing speed, and the club continues to believe that a winger capable of opening up the left flank would be an ideal addition.

While it is unlikely that Rashford will be an option again, Deco, the club’s sporting director, has other names in mind that fit this role. Players like Luis Diaz, Alexander Isak, and Benjamin Sesko have been mentioned as potential targets.

Meanwhile, Deco also confirmed that Barcelona are happy with their current options in the full-back position amid talks of interest in signing a right-back.

“We are happy with what we have,” he stated during the interview.
