Barcelona could still be one of the busiest clubs in the remaining weeks of the transfer market despite already strengthening their squad this summer.

The club have already wrapped up deals to sign both Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, thereby adding attacking firepower to the forward line.

However, according to journalist Gerard Romero, Barcelona are expected to complete at least four more signings before the transfer window closes.

The journalist did not reveal the identities of the players or specify which positions the club intend to reinforce.

Plenty of work still to do

If Romero’s information proves accurate, it would point to a much more active end to the window than many expected.

Barcelona have been linked with reinforcements in several areas of the pitch in recent weeks, while the club continue to assess opportunities that fit within their financial framework.

There are several transfer pursuits that remain unresolved. The Blaugrana have been trying to sign Julian Alvarez since the start of the summer transfer window.

Atletico Madrid have been very clear that they have no intention of negotiating a sale for Alvarez this summer.

This could force the sporting department to look at realistic alternatives if Hansi Flick feels he wants another striker in the squad.

Outgoings could shape the final moves

As has often been the case in recent years, Barcelona’s ability to sign new players is likely to depend on departures as much as arrivals.

Several members of the current squad continue to face uncertain futures, and any exits would not only free up salary space but also create room for new additions in Hansi Flick’s squad.

The club are working towards securing exits for the likes of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Marc Casado and even a central defender like Ronald Araujo if possible.

That makes the coming weeks particularly important. Rather than rushing into deals, Barcelona appear to be keeping multiple options open.

What Barça manage to do in the transfer window between now and the end of the summer could depend on such sales, and it remains to be seen whether the club can make four signings before the window closes.
