Barcelona eyeing transfer pinch as defender wanted by Lazio | OneFootball

Barcelona are hoping to raise a lot of money this summer, as they aim to spend big during their first transfer window back within La Liga’s 1:1 rule. They have already spent €80m on Anthony Gordon, and with the intention being that another €130m will go towards trying to tempt Atletico Madrid to sell Julian Alvarez, it will be imperative for funds to come in.

So far, only Ansu Fati (€11m to AS Monaco) and Inaki Pena (€3m to Panathinaikos) have managed to bring in transfer fees from the players that have left Barcelona. More money will come in when Marc Casado leaves as expected, but even so, the plan is for funds to keep coming in order to fund a new centre-back.

And as it turns out, the sale of one of their former central defenders could help Barcelona push towards bringing in a new one. As per MD, Lazio are interested in signing Sergi Dominguez, who left the Catalans last summer for Dinamo Zagreb.

Dominguez had a very impressive first season in Croatia, and that has led to clubs registering interest in his services. Barcelona expect the La Masia graduate to be sold this summer, and Lazio have reportedly tabled a €10m offer – although that is currently not enough for Dinamo, who value their player at closer to €12m.

Barcelona entitled to 20% of capital gain

Barcelona sold Dominguez for €1.2m last summer, as part of their deal with Dinamo, they retained 20% of any capital gain made by the Croatians. If it turns out that €12m is the price that Lazio agree to pay, the back-to-back La Liga champions would net just over €2m, which would be a nice little boost in their efforts to raise funds.
