Barcelona want Osasuna’s breakout forward Víctor Muñoz, but the club are pointing to his 40 million release clause and Real Madrid’s involvement could complicate any deal.

According to El Chiringuito, Barcelona’s sporting department have the 22-year-old firmly on their list. Barcelona are not expected to pay the clause, with nearly half of any fee due to Real Madrid, and would look to include players to lower the price, while Osasuna prefer cash and use the clause as their reference.

There were approaches from the Premier League in January, which Osasuna rejected. This summer, keeping Muñoz may prove harder, and there is a strong chance an English club meets the asking price.

Muñoz has been one of LaLiga’s revelations in recent months and has earned a call-up from De la Fuente’s national team.

He came through Barcelona’s youth ranks before moving to Real Madrid’s academy. Osasuna paid five million euros last summer for 50% of his rights, and Madrid retain a buyback for the next three seasons that cannot be used for an immediate resale.

Osasuna are planning for squad changes, including a likely 20 million sale of Boyomo, while aiming to keep Galán and strengthen elsewhere.
