Barcelona have lodged another complaint with UEFA over refereeing, two days after their Champions League quarter-final exit to Atlético Madrid. The club said in a statement that it submitted the filing on Thursday night.
It is their second complaint in as many weeks. After losing the first leg 0-2, Barcelona challenged the officiating, arguing a penalty should have been awarded for a Marc Pubill handball in the area.
The latest submission covers the entire tie. Barcelona contend that several decisions did not uphold the Laws of the Game due to incorrect rule application and a lack of appropriate VAR intervention in obviously significant incidents.
In their view, the accumulation of errors directly influenced the flow of the matches and the overall result, causing substantial sporting and economic harm to the club.
Barcelona add that they are ready to work with UEFA to improve the refereeing system, aiming for a more rigorous, fair and transparent application of the Laws of the Game.
