Barcelona forward absent from group training with national team | OneFootball

Ferran Torres went into the international break on a strong note, scoring a match-winning brace for Barcelona against Atletico Madrid in La Liga.

The 25-year-old has been a regular fixture in Luis de la Fuente’s Spain squad and was called up for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against the Netherlands.

Not in training

However, as reported by Carrusel Deportivo, Ferran Torres is not training with the rest of the Spain squad ahead of the game against the Netherlands.

As per the update, the Barcelona attacker will only do some work in the gym today, mainly as a precaution.

But it is expected that he will travel with the rest of the squad to Rotterdam where La Roja will lock horns with Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands in the first leg of the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals.

The two teams will again face off on Sunday in the second leg in Spain, which will be played at Mestalla – the home of Ferran’s former club Valencia.

As mentioned earlier, though, his absence from training is only precautionary and does not suggest any injury or other fitness problems.

The Barcelona forward has not been a regular starter for Hansi Flick at the club but has proven himself to be a valuable resource with his goals from the bench.

So far this season, the Spaniard has scored 13 goals and three assists from 32 appearances across all competitions.
