Barcelona forward might play a critical role in club’s pursuit of priority target | OneFootball

As time progresses, Ferran Torres’ future looks increasingly away from Barcelona, with reports indicating that he has already informed the club of his desire to leave amid interest from PSG.

Ferran’s potential exit could be devastating for Barcelona as it would leave them without a proper centre-forward, especially after the exit of Robert Lewandowski earlier in the summer.

That makes Barcelona’s Julian Alvarez operation even more critical. But slowly but surely, time is running out for Deco and co.

According to Gerard Romero, Ferran Torres may end up playing a key role for Barcelona in their bid to sign Alvarez this summer.

The journalist points out that if the Spaniard agrees to a move to Atletico Madrid, it would go a long way in smoothening the deal to sign Alvarez.

For now, Atletico Madrid have shown no desire to sell their star player to a direct rival. But that might change if Barcelona are willing to offer Ferran.

Atletico Madrid, after all, are among the clubs interested in the services of the former Man City star, who enjoyed an excellent World Cup campaign, capped off by a winning goal in the final against Alvarez’s Argentina.

That being said, it is hard to imagine Ferran accepting a move to Atletico Madrid this summer, as the forward has been very keen on continuing at Barcelona.

The only reason he appears to be considering an exit right now is interest from European champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Ferran has a strong relationship with Luis Enrique and PSG themselves are an excellent team that may offer him the opportunity to perform at the highest level.

Choosing Atletico Madrid over PSG is not a decision Ferran is likely to make, even though Atleti are more likely to hand him regular opportunities in the first team.

The final decision, therefore, rests on Ferran entirely as the Spaniard looks to take the next step in his career.
