Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, who has seen a spike in his market value this season, will be Spain’s main man once again as La Roja look to continue their winning momentum in this international duty.

Spain are slated to face Georgia and Bulgaria during this break, with Ferran likely to spearhead the attack for Luis de la Fuente’s men.

Ferran on the brink of a milestone

These two matches will be important for Ferran as he could soon reach a major milestone in his international career.

Indeed, the Barcelona forward could enter the list of top 10 goal scorers for the Spanish national team this week.

If he can score only one more goal, he would equal the scoring record held by Real Madrid greats Alfredo di Stefano and Sergio Ramos, with both having scored 23 goals for the country.

With 22 goals in 50 matches, Ferran is sitting in 11th position. If he can score two more goals, he would enter the top nine, overtaking both Di Stefano and Ramos.

In order to enter the top five, however, the Spaniard would need to score 14 more goals, which would help him overtake David Silva, who has 35 goals to his name.

However, before the start of the World Cup, Ferran can at least hope to break into the top seven by beating Fernando Morientes’ record of 27 goals.

David Villa is currently leading Spain’s all-time goal scorers list with a tally of 59 goals, with Raul (44) and Fernando Torres (38) making up the top three.

Interestingly, Ferran has a higher goals per game ratio (0.44) than Raul (0.43) and Torres (0.35), as well as most other players in the top 10, apart from Villa (0.6), Di Stefano (0.71) and Morientes (0.57).
