Barcelona 2-1 Real Sociedad
Barcelona have gone to the top of the La Liga standings after a narrow 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic.
Hansi Flick’s side dominated the opening stages despite giving chances to the likes of Dro Fernandez and Roony Bardghji, and they have had a number of opportunities – albeit, none of them were clear. But regardless, they were punished for not scoring, as the visitors hit the front following a fine move that ended with Ander Barrenetxea crossing for Alvaro Odriozola, and the former Real Madrid defender turned the ball into the back of the net with his outstretched foot.
But minutes before half time, Barcelona got the equaliser, and it came from the head of Jules Kounde, who netted from a Marcus Rashford corner for his first goal of the season. It came at a pivotal time for the Catalans, who would not be going into the interval at a disadvantage.

And now on the hour mark, Robert Lewandowski scored to make it 2-1 to the home side following brilliant work from Lamine Yamal, who had been on the pitch for about a minute. The winger took on his man before delivering an inch-perfect cross that the veteran striker headed past Alex Remiro in the La Liga goal.
Lewandowski missed a guilt-edged chance to seal the points late on, and 60 seconds prior, substitute Takefusa Kubo rattled the crossbar with an effort for La Real. But in the end, there were no more goals, which ensured the victory for Barcelona.
And it is one that sees them go above Real Madrid to the summit of the La Liga standings, with 19 points from their opening seven matches. As for La Real, they stay narrowly above the relegation zone on goal difference, ahead of Mallorca.
