Despite having one of the most competent and exciting of attacking lines in Europe in the 2024-25 season, FC Barcelona are looking to strengthen their forward line even more this summer. The Catalans are looking for a new left winger in particular, and have been linked with several players for this purpose.

One such player is the Liverpool forward Luis Diaz, who was reported to be the favorite candidate of the Blaugrana club for this role.

However, they have been very strongly linked with the Athletic Club forward Nico Williams in the last few days, since the Spaniard’s agent met with the Barcelona Sporting Director, Deco.

In these last few days, the winger has increasingly been reported to be getting closer to the Blaugrana club. So much so that the journalist Santi Aouna now claims that Barcelona have already reached a pre-agreement with Nico, who has agreed to sign a six-year contract till 2031. With this contract, he will earn €12 million per season.

This is undoubtedly a significant development in the Catalan club’s pursuit of a new left winger, and if this report turns out to be true, it would be clear that they have made their bet on the Spanish forward.

A highly exciting addition to the Blaugrana squad

The Spanish star has a release clause of €58 million, which, although not exactly low, is still affordable when compared with the sum that their other preferred candidates, like Luis Diaz, are likely to cost.

Sportingly, this would be a very good move for Barcelona, and would definitely excite the fans a lot. With him playing on the left wing and Yamal on the right, Hansi Flick will have two very disruptive players threatening opposition flanks, while Raphinha and Lewandowski will be ready to deal damage to the goal from the centre.

But for now, there would still be quite a lot of work for Barcelona to do before they can complete this signing.
