Barcelona and Frenkie de Jong have reached a full agreement over a new contract.
The Dutchman’s current deal stands to expire at the end of the season, and he is now all set to sign a new one that will keep him tied to Barça for three more years until 2029.
De Jong himself all but confirmed that his renewal was imminent last week during an interview.
Since then, reports have even stated that the formal signing of the new deal will take place on Wednesday, 15 October.
Now, Mundo Deportivo has brought forward a few more details about De Jong’s new contract at Barcelona.
As per the report, the Netherlands international’s new release clause will be set at a whopping €500 million.

While it does not place him in the €1 billion club alongside players like Gavi, Pedri, and Lamine Yamal, it is still an increase from his previous release clause, which stood at €400 million.
De Jong will be taking a pay cut on his new contract to adhere to the club’s new salary structure in place.
However, a key detail of the agreement is that the midfielder will receive the salary amounts already stipulated for the current season as originally signed.
His new wage structure will begin to take effect from 1 July, coinciding with the start of the 2026/27 season.
De Jong has been a key figure for Hansi Flick, forming part of the double pivot alongside Pedri since last season. Despite having had his ups and downs at the club, the 28-year-old has now become an integral part of the team’s present and future.
