Barcelona sporting director Deco late this week held a summit with the agent of a player long linked wih a move to Catalunya’s capital.
The player in question? Nico Williams.
The name of wide-man Nico of course dominated the headlines at Barcelona throughout the 2024 summer transfer window.
This came after the Blaugrana tried for months on end to secure the signature of the Spanish international.
In the end, Nico stayed put, before putting pen to paper on a new-and-improved contract at Athletic Club.
Barcelona, in turn, had since been considered as all but out of the race for the 22-year-old, now being led by Bayern Munich and Arsenal.
It has therefore come as a major surprise to learn of the aforementioned Deco sitting down for a fresh round of talks with Félix Tainta, Nico’s representative.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘Barça have held a market summit with Nico Williams’ agent, Félix Tainta, who has travelled to Barcelona to meet with the club’s sporting director, Deco. The two have held a meeting in a Barcelona hotel to talk about the options of reactivating an operation that came to nothing last summer.’
Whilst Liverpool star Luis Díaz remains Barca’s first-choice winger target, the Nico track, it would appear, remains very much alive…
