Barcelona hold talks over shock Neymar return | OneFootball

Barcelona have held talks with the representatives of Santos winger Neymar over a shock return to the club, it has been revealed.

Neymar rejoined boyhood club Santos on a six-month contract in January after terminating his deal with Saudi Pro League moneybags Al Hilal, with reports stating he wants to use his short spell in Brazil to prove he still has what it takes to cut it at a high level in Europe.

The 33-year-old has hit the back of the net twice and has contributed three assists in just six games for Santos – more goals than he managed during his injury-hit 18 months with Al Hilal.

A report fromThe Athletic states that Neymar's top priority is to return to Barcelona, where he dazzled for four years alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in a foward trident dubbed 'MSN' before his world-record transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

That interest has, so far, not been dismissed by Barcelona, who have spoken with Neymar's representatives about what would be a hugely surprising return to Camp Nou at the end of the current season.

Neymar's agent, Pini Zahavi, also advises manager Hansi Flick and is close with Barcelona president Joan Laporta, making lines of communication incredibly simple.

Neymar is said to harbour hopes of playing at the rebuilt Camp Nou and prove his level in order to represent Brazil at the 2026 World Cup, with those the two objectives currently guiding his career.
