It is no secret that Barcelona are in the market for a new right-back, and according to AS, two players are currently under consideration, namely, Fiorentina’s Dodo and Rayo Vallecano’s Andrei Ratiu.

The outlet suggests that the Catalan club’s sporting director, Deco, has been in talks with various representatives in recent weeks as they search for a player who can strengthen the position.

Starting with Dodo

Dodo, the Brazilian full-back at Fiorentina, stands out as a strong attacking option. Known for his dribbling skills, pace, and excellent crossing ability, he is a natural fit for Barcelona’s offensive style.

Fiorentina have been working hard to extend his contract until 2027, but negotiations have reached a standstill. As a result, the club could be open to selling him, with a reported price tag of €25 million.

Barcelona are said to be in pole position to secure his signature, but they will face competition from other European heavyweights such as Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, and Juventus, all of whom have shown interest in his situation.

What about Andrei Ratiu?

On the other hand, Ratiu has also emerged as a viable target for Barcelona. The Romanian right-back has been one of the breakout stars of the season, contributing two goals and three assists.

His performances have seen his market value skyrocket to €12 million, a significant rise from his previous valuation.

Although Ratiu has a €25 million release clause, reports suggest that he could leave for much less, with Villarreal considering exercising their buy-out clause worth €7.5 million to potentially sell him to a third-party club.

Barcelona, along with Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen, are reportedly monitoring the situation closely.

Both players offer different qualities — Dodo with his attacking flair and experience in Serie A, and Ratiu with his rapid rise in La Liga.

Regardless of who Barcelona ultimately decide to pursue, it is clear that the club is focused on reinforcing their defensive options.
