The youngster has been sidelined with pubic discomfort while also dealing with some back problems.

Earlier today, Hansi Flick hit out at the Spanish national team for mismanaging the youngster, claiming that the player was dealing with pain when he joined the La Roja camp, but was still used for nearly 150 minutes across two games.

Retaliating, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) claimed that there was no communication from Barça about Lamine’s discomfort and that the player was fine when he arrived and left the Spain camp.

Barcelona hit back

Now, according to Cadena SER, Barcelona have rejected suggestions from the RFEF that they failed to notify the national team about Lamine Yamal’s physical issues.

According to the Catalan club, Spain’s physiotherapists and team doctor Claudio Vazquez were made fully aware of the forward’s lumbar discomfort as soon as he joined the camp.

The Blaugrana stress that their head of medical services, Ricard Pruna, remained in constant contact with Spain’s staff throughout the international break. Daily exchanges were held, with Yamal’s condition a recurring topic.

In fact, ahead of Spain’s match against Turkey, the national team physios reportedly informed Barcelona that the 18-year-old was suffering from acute lumbar pain stemming from a minor pubic injury. They indicated that he would initially stay at the hotel for treatment.

Later, Barça were told that Dr. Vazquez had given the youngster an injection to ease the pain, with the caveat that he would not play if symptoms persisted.

But he ended up featuring for nearly 80 minutes, and after the game, Spain’s staff again reported that the discomfort had not gone away.

Since returning to Barcelona, Yamal was unable to complete a full training session, participating only in light rondos. Now, he has been sidelined for tomorrow’s game and might end up missing the next one as well.
