FC Barcelona are expected to be one of the most active clubs in the transfer market this summer.
The signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle has already been completed and was announce on Friday. And the Catalan giants continue working on several other additions as they prepare for the 2026/27 season.
While the sporting department remains focused on signing established players capable of immediately strengthening Hansi Flick’s squad, the Blaugrana are also keeping a close eye on emerging talents who could become important assets for the future.
In that context, SPORT reports that Jorge Salinas, a highly-rated left-back from Racing Santander, is on the radar of Barcelona.
The 19-year-old Spaniard has become one of the standout products of Racing Santander’s academy. He played a significant role in the club’s promotion to La Liga this season.

Under manager Jose Alberto, the young defender featured in 32 matches during the promotion campaign and contributed seven assists, highlighting his attacking influence from the left flank.
Barcelona have been closely monitoring his development and are seriously considering a move. The club view him as a player with enormous long-term potential and believe he possesses many of the qualities required to succeed at the highest level.
The same reports also suggest that Jorge Mendes, one of Joan Laporta’s most trusted agents and advisers in the transfer market, is involved in discussions surrounding the player’s future.
Racing Santander are fully aware that keeping Salinas could prove extremely difficult. The 19-year-old is currently under contract until June 2029, giving the Spanish club a relatively strong negotiating position.
However, the report suggests that his release clause currently stands at €4 million and could rise to €10 million from July 1 following the club’s promotion to La Liga.
That situation means interested clubs may feel pressure to act quickly if they wish to secure the player before the valuation increases significantly.

A move to Barcelona would not necessarily lead directly to a place in the first-team squad for Salinas.
The La Liga champions already have Alejandro Balde and remain optimistic about retaining Joao Cancelo. In addition, Jofre Torrents is progressing through the youth ranks and is viewed as another long-term option.
For that reason, Barça are likely to see Salinas primarily as a strategic investment for the future rather than an immediate first-team solution.
One possibility under consideration would be signing the player and then allowing him to continue his development elsewhere on loan next season, either at Racing Santander or another club where he could receive regular minutes.
