Dusan Vlahovic is one of the most sought-after players in the transfer market right now, with his contract at Juventus expiring at the end of the season.

Everything suggests Vlahovic will leave the Old Lady for free in the summer, offering European clubs an exciting opportunity to sign a top striker for zero transfer cost.

Barcelona are among the clubs interested in the services of the Serbian international, as he looks to take the next step in his career.

Barcelona leading the charge

A recent report from Gazetta Dello Sport (h/t Diario SPORT) has now revealed that Barcelona are, in fact, leading the race to sign Dusan Vlahovic next summer.

It appears the “Barcelona effect” is serving as a real attractor for the Juventus forward, even though he is also courted by top teams such as Bayern Munich and AC Milan.

Vlahovic is enticed by the idea of playing for a team under constant media pressure, as it suits his ambition.

This could serve as a real boost for Barcelona as they look to find a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, whose contract at Camp Nou expires at the end of the season.

While Vlahovic certainly doesn’t have the pedigree of Lewandowski, the Serbian has shown the ability to become a leading striker for a top European team.

During his time at Juventus, the forward has racked up 60 goals in all competitions. He had also scored 49 goals for his previous club, Fiorentina.

Although the frequency of goals can be improved, Vlahovic’s status as a free transfer makes him an exciting option for Barcelona.

Not to mention, the Serbian might thrive more in a Barcelona attack, where he will receive support from some of the most gifted footballers in the world, in Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Pedri.
